East Bracklesham Drive during World War 2
In 1944 the Allied Commanders, including Winston Churchill, watched military excercise in Bracklesham Bay. The bay was selected for it's similarities to the beaches of Normandy in France. Churchill stayed at The Bracklesham Bay Hotel and was regularly seen being driven down our road.

Local Kaye Stubbington has kindly shown us some interesting photos. She says " They are of my Dad outside his shop in East Bracklesham Drive. His shop was next to the old Brack Bay hotel bar and was within the hotel complex. I would estimate these two photos were taken in around 1960 – 61
We lived almost opposite the hotel in a little bungalow called “Littleover”. That has also long gone and been replaced by a pair of semi-detached bungalows."
